The rooms are small but reasonably comfortable, but you may have a shared bathroom and a shared towel. :/ You should also know that this hotel is located along streets that are small even by Malè standards (in other words, in an alley). The taxi had to drop me off a block away, and you will need to make your way to the main street in order to get a cab. The front desk will not provide any service to schedule a cab for your flight (thank goodness morning prayers are at dawn).

Getting there
Hotel Octave is in the Malé area, about 3.0 km in a straight line from Velana International Airport on Hulhulé. Hulhumalé is joined to the airport island by road, and the Sinamalé Bridge links the airport side with Malé, so the transfer is short.
A city stay suits a first or last night around an international flight, or a base for ferries and speedboats out to the nearby local islands of North and South Malé atolls.
The nearest other stays in this guide are ontrack travel Male Maldives (on the same island block), Tourist Inn (on the same island block) and Ontrack Travel Transit Hotel (on the same island block). On a local island or in the city, stays this close share the same streets, beaches and ferry stops, which makes them easy to compare.

Hotel Octave averages 3.9 out of 5 across 186 reviews. A selection, quoted as written:
This hotel experience was, without a doubt, one of the absolute worst I've ever had. I honestly can't believe how poorly guests are treated – it felt like the management viewed us as adversaries, not paying customers. The communication between reservations and the front desk was a complete disaster. Even though I had fully paid for my room in advance, they arbitrarily changed the terms and rates, which is completely unacceptable. The final straw was on my last day when I was actually pulled from my room and forced to move to another one with a detached, private bathroom – meaning it wasn't even in the room itself! This place is clearly a badly run family business that seems to thrive…
