North Ari is the administrative atoll of Alifu Alifu, west of Malé across a wide channel. On island signs and ferry boards the atoll carries the administrative code letter U (used on island signs and ferry boards). The atoll runs roughly north to south, with a lagoon, a rim reef and a scatter of uninhabited islands between the inhabited ones. Rasdhoo sits at the northeast tip, closest to the channel that separates the atoll from North and South Malé. That position, with deep water close to the reef, is what makes the atoll's diving distinctive. Inhabited islands with guesthouses include Rasdhoo, Ukulhas, Mathiveri and Feridhoo. Thoddoo, a farming island known for fruit, lies just north of the atoll and is often grouped with it in transfer routes and guesthouse listings.
