From the site's North Malé Atoll guide: The shortest transfers in the country, and the widest mix: resort islands, plus inhabited islands such as Thulusdhoo and Huraa with guesthouses. North Malé Atoll is the northern half of Kaafu, the administrative atoll that also contains Malé and the airport island of Hulhulé. Its administrative code letter H (used on island signs and ferry boards) marks it on maps and timetables. The atoll runs north from the capital, and its southern edge includes Malé and the reclaimed island of Hulhumalé, which is linked to the airport island by bridge. The atoll holds many resort islands, each one island with one property, and several inhabited islands with guesthouses. Thulusdhoo, Huraa, Himmafushi and Dhiffushi are the main local islands with guesthouse beds. Thulusdhoo and Himmafushi sit beside well-known surf breaks, and the surf season runs roughly from March to October, with the biggest swells around June to August. Because the atoll begins at the airport's doorstep, transfers are short. Speedboats can run day and night, so a late international arrival can still reach an island the same evening. That makes North Malé useful for a first or last night, and for short trips where time in a boat matters.
- Lankan Manta PointA manta cleaning station in North Malé Atoll, reached by boat from nearby islands.
- Banana ReefOne of the best-known dive sites of North Malé Atoll, dived in both monsoons.
- The Maldive Victory wreckA cargo ship that sank near the airport island in 1981; deep and current-prone, for experienced divers.
- The North Malé reef breaks (Thulusdhoo and Himmafushi)The surf season runs roughly March to October, with the biggest swells around June to August.
- Hulhumalé beach and the Malé ferryHulhumalé has a public beach where local dress norms apply, a short taxi ride from the airport, with regular ferry crossings to Malé.
